Specialized Maternity and Pediatric Services
We provide the extra care women, babies, and their families need.
Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC)
Jackson Health System fully supports vaginal birth after Cesarean (VBAC) deliveries in accordance with American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ practice guidelines. In fact, The Women’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial is the only designated VBAC Center of Excellence by the Maternal Safety Foundation in South Florida.
If you have a history of Cesarean delivery, it may be possible to experience natural birth with your next baby. Before proceeding with this procedure, we advise that you consult with one of our OB/GYNs to ensure you are a good candidate.
Circumcision
Circumcision is available to all infants younger than 5 weeks old who weigh less than 11 pounds. Several methods are used to minimize discomfort and calm the baby during the procedure, including a topical anesthetic cream, Marcaine/lidocaine injection, or a pacifier dipped in sweetened water.
Circumcisions are conducted at our Pediatric Urology office. Call us at 305-585-3627 to schedule.
Safe Sleep Program
When you choose to deliver your little miracle at Jackson Memorial Hospital, you are also selecting a hospital that earned a Gold Certified Safe Sleep Champion designation from the Cribs for Kids® National Safe Sleep Hospital program.
This highest-level certification means staff go above and beyond in a pursuit to reduce sleep-related deaths by promoting practices and education for infant sleep safety.
Injury Free Coalition for Kids® of Miami
Injury is the leading cause of death for children ages 1-12 years-old in Miami-Dade County. Deaths represent a fraction of the number of severe injuries that result in hospitalization. Research demonstrates that hands on training of child safety practices and access to affordable safety items significantly increases parent/caregiver knowledge and safety practices of these devices. The Injury Free Mobile offers parents and caregivers with interactive education and skills building in a simulated home setting, and access to low-to-no-cost safety items.
Injury Free Coalition for Kids® of Miami offers hands on training in Spanish, English and Creole. The program visits different sites throughout Miami Dade County including local hospital clinics, schools, daycare centers, pre-scheduled health fairs and expositions.
To learn more about the program, reserve the Injury Free Miami Mobile for an event in Miami Dade County, or to make a cars eat safety check appointment, please call (305) 585-PEDI (7334).
