How to Bring Your Doula to Jackson
Getting your doula set up is effortless. Your doula handles their own registration — all you need to do is let your care team know they’ll be joining you.
1. Your doula reviews the guidelines
Jackson’s Doula Guideline outlines exactly what to expect at every stage of your care. Your doula can review it anytime before your visit.
2. Your doula checks in on their first visit
At the guest services desk and doula registration kiosk in the lobby, your doula signs the guideline and gets a hard plastic doula badge to keep, along with a visitor sticker for the day.
3. Your doula checks in on every visit after that
Each time your doula supports you, or another patient, they check in again at the kiosk for a new visitor sticker.
4. Add your doula to your birth plan
Let your care team know your doula will be with you, so everyone is on the same page well before delivery day.
Doulas who complete the full check-in, including a review of operating room safety information, are also welcomed into the OR and spaces like nourishment and linen rooms.

No. Jackson doesn’t provide doulas. As a Doula Friendly Hospital system, we welcome the doula you choose and make sure they’re treated as part of your care team.

Your doula can be with you at every stage of your care, including prenatal visits, triage and the maternity emergency room, labor and delivery, the operating room, postpartum care, and the newborn ICU.
Florida Medicaid covers doula services on managed care plans. Most private insurance don’t cover doula care, but it’s worth checking with your insurance carrier. You can also use a flexible spending account or health savings account to help cover the cost.
Yes, your doula wears a special Jackson badge that identifies them as part of your care team. This helps our staff recognize them right away, so they’re welcomed, not turned away.
Doulas don’t perform medical exams, give medical advice, or deliver babies. Your nurses and OB/GYN handle your medical care. Your doula focuses on comfort, encouragement, and making sure your voice is heard throughout the process.
No. Your doula can check in on their own schedule and doesn’t need to arrive alongside you.
No. Doulas aren’t tied to a single patient. Yours can support other Jackson patients too, and they’ll check in at the kiosk for each one.
