Lactation Specialists

Board-certified lactation specialists are available for free, personal one-on-one consultations with mothers at all of our hospitals. Moms can schedule free consultations while in the hospital and our specialists will continue to be available for assistance even after the baby has gone home.

Our board-certified lactation specialists can provide personalized help with:

  • Low milk supply
  • Teaching a newborn to latch on
  • Engorgement of the breasts
  • Breastfeeding twins
  • How to use a breast pump

Breastfeeding Classes With Lactation Professionals

Breastfeeding classes at The Women’s Hospital at Jackson Memorial are taught by a certified lactation consultant in the Little Miracles Family Resource Center. These classes can be taken as part of the Childbirth and Family Class Series or as a stand-alone course. They are available in English and Spanish.

At The Women’s Pavilion at Jackson North, breastfeeding classes are available in English, for free, every month.

Join other expectant parents in our breastfeeding classes to learn how to help your baby “latch on,” how to hold your baby while you nurse and how to overcome common obstacles. Plus, we share tips on pumping, returning to work, and weaning.

Breastfeeding Support Groups

Breastfeeding can be challenging, and most moms need support and encouragement. Our free breastfeeding support groups are run by certified lactation consultants.
